Cars in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were contacted by a resident who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials report initial examinations show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.

City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.

A high-ranking representative said the incident made him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
