Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
