Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Success also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour title, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet defended 4 early-game opportunities in a close third set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
